They say there's nothing worse than feeling lethargic, slugging around for the entire day despite consuming countless coffees and inevitably inducing the ole caffeine shakes. It's true. It's awful. However, looking as bad as you feel is definitely a heck of a lot worse.
I think it's time we compare bedtime products, not stories..
The clock strikes 9pm, I vow to make my final cup of green tea and slip into wind down mode.
Diiiiiing. It chimes 10pm. I'm still in my work clothes, still vowing to make it to the kettle for that final cup of tea. Sod the tea, water will do. Now, to bed I shall go!
11pm. Finally, I am in bed, like an astronaut planting a flag on the moon I feel like I've truly achieved something. Now, just to check my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, oh hello funny cats story on buzzfeed, oh my gossssh would you look at that coat on sale?! Gee, I better check my emails and close my eyes. Emails are important you know.
Oh. It's after midnight. Blah. It's late, heck I better just stay up until 1am now. I like round numbers and all that, yes that's wise. Very organised.
When my forsaken alarm rings, I wonder why on earth I chose a calming 'peaceful' chime to wake me up. This further adds to the cruelty of facing the day ahead. Note to self, change dreadful alarm tone. Like, ASA-frickin-P.
All hail the jar! The only difference is the simple fact I don't look in the mirror and look as tired as I feel. My body aches for the first sip of that steaming americano, it yearns for a spoonful of porridge to evoke some sort of burst of energy. Ah, but my face, it is glowing from a clever concoction of Vichy (here), Clarins tanning oil (here), Charlotte Tilbury primer (here) and of course, an underrated but sensational Vitamin C serum.
How? Hang on, how can your skin look so awake when you feel so dreadfully tired? Simple, Vichy comes to the rescue.
I found this sleep in a jar product from Alex Steinherr, the Glamour Magazine beauty director. She posts a run through of her Sunday night facial products on her Snapchat (username: asteinherr) and as soon as she raved about this beauty, I just had to pick it up. I love her because she's so brutally honest, is incredibly knowledgable but in no way makes you feel like an idiot if you aren't 'in' on the beauty bizz...if you get me.
Where do I buy it? Online (here) or in your local Boots, provided it's a larger boots store.
How much money are we talking? It's normally reasonably priced at £26.50 (but it is on offer now for £19.87) and will last a long time, in my eyes it's worth it as a back up for our sleep deprived seasons of life.
Right, but how does it work? In truth I don't know how the technical side of it works. I do however know when we don't get enough uninterrupted sleep our skin doesn't have a chance to deeply rest and repair like it should. This little miraculous jar basically gives your skin the boost it gets whilst you sleep = a miracle.
How to apply: apply a thin layer before bed, let it soak in for a few minutes before flopping face first onto your pillow. It is somewhat of a hybrid between a balm and a lusciously thick moisturiser, hence the importance of waiting for it to soak in. FYI, it smells beautiful. Fall asleep, then wake up with plump, refreshed and awake skin. Perfect for go getters, procrastinators and travellers alike; a product definitely worth investing in.
Oh anything that makes me appear as if I've had more sleep I'm on board with hahaha Siobhan xx
