I've genuinely been itching to write a hotel series for quite some time but have always felt a little worried about how to approach it. Time has passed and I now appreciate the fact I work hard and enjoy traveling so why shouldn't I stay where I want?
I completely understand hotels are a lot of money, but this only makes me more eager to honestly and genuinely write about my experiences before you part with your money.
Now, come see it through my eyes..
Introducing, The Corinthia London (here). Whilst a fantastic city, London is often a little difficult to find a good hotel. Yes, there are so many good 5* hotels to choose from that vary in style; some are iconic, others very grand, a few are incredibly modern and then there's the array of hotels that perfectly suit businessmen....of which, I am not.
For me, The Corinthia embodies everything I thought it would and more. Luxurious, contemporary, buzzing and friendly. As soon as you step out of the taxi you're greeted by a friendly doorman, you then walk into the lobby which is truly stunning and is an electric hub of activity.
The hotel is situated a stones throw from Westminster meaning you'll find it's a popular port of call for important business & political meetings, which makes people watching very very interesting.

Important f-a-c-t of the day, it's no secret that space is hard to come by in London but the Corinthia completely outdo themselves on this front. Peter and I once stayed in another hotel One Aldywch in London (here), located in Covent Garden. We booked an executive room which is a grade above a standard room and trust me when I say you'd struggle to swing a cat in it.
As you can see the Corinthia thankfully is spacious, which only adds to its appeal. No detail is overlooked. None. There are no chips in the furniture/paint, no leads hanging in unaesthetic places, no slightly crooked artwork and every single item is emblazoned with the Corinthia logo. It's clear they take great pride in the service they provide and so they should.
Quite possibly my favourite spot. Marble, his and her sinks, a deep bath to boot and one wonderful shower. Bliss. Now you know I've a tradition of taking a bath in hotel rooms and to my delight the Corinthia bath was truly amazing. I mean - TV built into the wall amazing.
Oh, also importantly, I would liken the bed to that of sleeping on a cloud. As in, can I just stay here forever and never leave. You'll also find a built in wardrobe in the room, mood lighting in the corridor that connects your bedroom to your bathroom, a built in wardrobe and a lovely balcony.
Speaking of the balcony, the hotel is built with an outdoor garden in the middle of it. Another unique attribute. Around 2am, startled and curious we crept onto the balcony to eavesdrop who was creating the racket in the garden; well, it was none other than Harrison Ford and the cast of Star Wars who were staying here for the London premiere and press conference which took place in the hotel.
With the excitement of a child, the next day Peter hopped onto the lift and stepped onto floor two. Bustling, hectic and an electric atmosphere to boot; he had walked straight into the midst of the cast interviews with various TV stations....with no security. Then Harrison Ford walked past, and being the Star Wars fan that he is, he died a little inside....of excitement.
FYI, the cast of Bond's Spectre also stayed here within the last few months. It's also a firm favourite in Rihanna's books, so maybe you'll spot someone unique floating around the hotel.
Commuting is also wonderful from the Corinthia. It's situated literally a 2 minute walk from Embankment tube station which connects so SO well to the rest of London. I cannot urge how important this is when choosing a hotel! When we stayed in Covent Garden commuting was a nightmare with the blasted lifts and sheer volume of people passing through; so trust me, it was a true delight to breezily walk to Embankment tube station and navigate across the city with ease.
And then? .....we had to come home. Sigh. Peter and I have what we call 'go to' hotels in different cities, if we don't stay there then it's almost as if we've committed an act of betrayal. Creatures of habit eh? So it's with great pleasure I can say we definitely have found our go to for London. Until next time! Ahem. Dear universe, let next time be soon..
I'd love to stay at this hotel - your photos are class! Xx Siobhan
