I'm a 'let's make a tradition' kinda girl, two of my favourite ones when travelling are ordering a huge breakfast via room service while snuggled up in flannel pyjamas. The other? Taking a long, hot bath soaked in Jo Malone 'English Pear & Freesia' bath oil (here).
So, what's the new tradition? Let me tell you and boy is it set in stone.
A little simple and perhaps superficial but really let's be truthful; there's nothing worse than the greasy and/or frizzy hair attributed to flying. Equally, there's nothing better than the feeling of strutting out of a London salon with bouncy hair to rival Cindy Crawford.
What's a gal to do? Obviously, get the Cindy Crawford hair. I feel like some sort of glorified OTT girl power emoji should be inserted here, but alas I shall refrain.
Floppy, frizzy and utterly lifeless I felt anything but glamorous as I walked out of the hotel past the clamouring paparazzi and onto Whitehall Place. In the past I've used Show Dry in Notting Hill (here) and Blo Blow Bar in Covent Garden (here). To read my review on both, shimmy over here.
This time? I decided to try somewhere new, Hershesons in Selfridges (here). I rushed down the street through a sea of commuters eagerly anticipating the luxury of having someone wash and style my hair for me.
Personally, I like how accessible Selfridges is and also how quick the service is - some salons are harder to access i.e. Notting Hill and others take a minimum of one hour for a wash and blow dry, which isn't great if you're wanting to spend more time enjoying your trip than in a salon seat.
Now, here's a snippet of their hair 'menu'. I opted for the half & half which is basically a lovely voluptuous blow dry set with thick waves.
The only minuscule downside was that I don't think the blow dry was as curly as I like, but I still loved it. Now, this is only if we're going to strictly speaking 'pick holes' which I don't like to do - but I would rather give you an honest review.
Do I recommend it? Yes. The girl who washed and styled me was lovely, friendly and chatty. She was professional and she honestly did such a wonderful job. Noticeably, she washed and blow dryed my hair within 30 minutes whereas the other salons took roughly 45min - 1 hour minimum.
What's the price? £28. If you follow me on Snapchat (sarahlouiseboyd) you'll have seen me snapping my hair last Saturday night - if I do say so myself, it sat beautifully despite having been washed and styled on Thursday morning.
Do I have to have long swishy hair? No, not at all! The stylists are able to do up dos, buns, glamorous styles etc. Basically, whatever you want.
Will I go again? Heck yeah!
Ps. I would describe Hershesons as a trendy but totally on point dry bar. Show Dry is utter glamour, expect to be surrounded by Chanel and Hermes but it is truly a fab experience. Blo Blow Bar in Covent Garden on the other hand is quite American but is seriously a fantastic allrounder.
